Ingredients:

  • 500g (1.1 lbs ) of wheat flour
  • 50g (1.7oz) fresh yeast
  • 100g (3.5oz) sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 250 ml (1 cup ) of milk
  • 80g (2.8oz) butter
  • 300g (10.6oz) poppy seeds
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm milk with added sugar. Leave for a few minutes.
  2. Put the flour in a bowl, add a pinch of salt, eggs, butter and yeast solution. Mix the ingredients and then knead the dough.
  3. Leave the dough in a warm place for about 1.5 hours, until it doubles in size.
  4. In the meantime, prepare the stuffing. Pour boiling water over the poppy seeds and leave for a few minutes, then drain and grind.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangular shape, spread the filling on it and roll it up.
  6. Bake in a preheated 180°C (356°F) oven for about 45 minutes until the pastry is golden.
