Ingredients:

  • 500g (1.1 lbs ) of wheat flour
  • 50g (1.7oz) fresh yeast
  • 100g (3.5oz) sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 250 ml (1 cup ) of milk
  • 80g (2.8oz) butter
  • 1 kg (2.2 lbs ) of currants
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm milk with added sugar. Leave for a few minutes.
  2. Put the flour in a bowl, add a pinch of salt, eggs, butter and yeast solution. Mix the ingredients and then knead the dough.
  3. Leave the dough in a warm place for about 1.5 hours, until it doubles in size.
  4. In the meantime, rinse the currants, pat them dry and remove the stems.
  5. After the dough has risen, put it in a greased form. Put the currants on top.
  6. Bake in a preheated 180°C (356°F) oven for about 45 minutes until the pastry is golden.
