Braised Beef: A Classic Dish That Always Tastes
Stewed beef is a classic of home cooking that deserves more than just an occasional appearance on our plates. Delicate, juicy meat, which after long cooking becomes soft and velvety, wrapped in an aromatic sauce, is a feast for the senses. This dish is proof that simple ingredients can produce a multi-faceted result that will delight anyone who tries it. The key to great braised beef is patience. This is not a dish that can be prepared in a hurry; it must simmer slowly until the meat becomes so tender that it practically melts in the mouth. This method of cooking allows the meat to draw flavor from accompaniments such as onions, garlic and carrots, which, when cooked for a long time, create an incredibly aromatic sauce with the meat. Braised beef is a dish that always tastes better the next day, when the flavors have time to develop to combine. It is an ideal dish for family dinners, but also for celebrations. Served with baked potatoes, groats or rice, it creates a comfortable, filling dish that will satisfy the most demanding palates.
