Baked Beans: A Filling Taste of Tradition

Baked beans are one of those flavors that are invariably associated with home, the warmth of a family hearth and Sunday dinner at grandma's. This is a dish that every Pole knows and loves, regardless of age or place of residence. The history of baked beans dates back to the 17th century and is associated with French cuisine, specifically with the Brittany region. The fishermen there began to prepare the beans with bacon and onions, and later the dish evolved into what we know today. Although the ingredients may seem simple, it is this simplicity that makes baked beans so delicious and filling. The Polish version of baked beans is slightly different from the original recipe, but retains its unique characteristics. Traditionally, we use white beans, bacon, onion, sausage and tomato paste to prepare the beans. This dish is extremely filling, which is why it works great as a dinner, but also as a dish for a party or picnic.
