This is one of those dishes that, although they require a bit of work and patience, provide an unparalleled taste experience. Soft, aromatic, full of various flavors - homemade pâté is a real feast for the palate. Preparation of pâté is not only a process of cooking, but also of creation. It is the art of selecting ingredients, spices and preparing meat. Each ingredient adds its own unique flavor notes to the whole, resulting in a dish that is much more than the sum of its parts. In this article, we will share with you a recipe for a traditional homemade pâté. This is a dish that, with its rich composition of flavors, melts in your mouth, leaving a long-lasting memory. Although the pâté may seem complicated to prepare, it is actually a simple and enjoyable process.

Ingredients:

  • 500g (17.6oz) chicken liver
  • 500g (17.6oz) pork (e.g. shoulder)
  • 2 onions
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 3 eggs
  • 200g (7oz) breadcrumbs
  • 200ml (6.8 fl oz) milk
  • salt, pepper to taste
  • spoon of marjoram
  • tablespoon of butter to grease the mold
  • a few bay leaves and allspice grains to put on top of the pâté

Instructions:

  1. Wash the meat and chicken liver, cut into smaller pieces and grind.
  2. Peel the onion and garlic, finely chop and fry in a pan until golden .
  3. Soak breadcrumbs in milk.
  4. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl: meat, liver, fried onion with garlic, soaked breadcrumbs, eggs, salt, pepper and marjoram.
  5. Grease the baking form with butter, and then put the meat mixture into it. Arrange bay leaves and allspice on top.
  6. Put the mold in the oven preheated to 180 degrees Celsius (356 degrees Fahrenheit) and bake the pâté for about 90 minutes.
