- 500g (1.1 lbs ) of wheat flour
- 50g (1.7oz) fresh yeast
- 100g (3.5oz) sugar
- 2 eggs
- 250 ml (1 cup ) of milk
- 80g (2.8oz) butter
- 300g (10.6oz) poppy seeds
- Pinch of salt
- Dissolve yeast in warm milk with added sugar. Leave for a few minutes.
- Put the flour in a bowl, add a pinch of salt, eggs, butter and yeast solution. Mix the ingredients and then knead the dough.
- Leave the dough in a warm place for about 1.5 hours, until it doubles in size.
- In the meantime, prepare the stuffing. Pour boiling water over the poppy seeds and leave for a few minutes, then drain and grind.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangular shape, spread the filling on it and roll it up.
- Bake in a preheated 180°C (356°F) oven for about 45 minutes until the pastry is golden.
