This combination of the traditional taste of sand cake with a rich, creamy nut filling creates a unique culinary experience that will satisfy even the most demanding palates. Sand cake is one of those pastries that never go out of style. Its soft, sandy taste and texture are extremely versatile, thanks to which it goes well with all kinds of additions. This time we decided to combine it with a nut cream, which adds not only an additional flavor to the cake, but also an interesting contrast in texture. Nut cream is a real treat for lovers of intense, deep flavors. Its creamy and slightly crunchy texture perfectly matches the softness of the sand cake. The combination of these two elements creates an unforgettable taste experience.
- 250g (8.8oz) wheat flour
- 200g (7oz) butter
- 150g (5.3oz) powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 200g (7oz) walnuts
- 100g (3.5oz) sugar
- 100ml (3.4 fl oz) 30% cream
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Cut the butter into small pieces and let it soften at room temperature.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, powdered sugar and baking powder. Add butter and eggs, then knead the dough.
- Prepare a cake pan by greasing it with butter and dusting it with breadcrumbs. Put the dough in the mold and bake for about 40 minutes.
- In the meantime, prepare the hazelnut cream. Grind the nuts into small pieces, then add sugar and cream. Stir over medium heat until the ingredients are combined and the cream begins to thicken.
- After baking the cake, let it cool down and then remove it from the mold. Cut it in half and spread the hazelnut cream on one of the slices, then cover with the other slice .
- The cake can be served sprinkled with powdered sugar or chopped nuts.
