Potato casserole with meat - a classic dish with homely charm

- 1kg potatoes (2.2lbs)
- 500 g minced meat (1.1 lbs) - any kind (e.g. beef, pork, chicken)
- 2 onions (large)
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 2 eggs ( large )
- 1 cup of broth (1 cup )
- 100g cream 18% (3.5oz)
- 100g (3.5oz) cheese - any kind (e.g. gouda, emmental)
- Salt, pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons of oil
- Fresh herbs for decoration (e.g. parsley, dill)
- Peel potatoes, wash and cut into thin slices. Peel the onion and garlic and chop finely.
- In a frying pan, in hot oil, fry the onion. Add minced meat and fry until well browned. Halfway through cooking, add chopped garlic, salt and pepper to taste.
- In a large bowl, mix potato slices, browned meat with onions and garlic, and raw eggs. Season everything to taste with salt and pepper.
- Prepare an ovenproof dish, on the bottom of which pour the broth. Then put the potato-meat mass on it.
- Top the casserole with sour cream and top with grated cheese.
- Bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees C (356F) for about 45 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the casserole is golden brown.
- Sprinkle the casserole with fresh herbs before serving.
